If the customer fails to obtain or maintain comprehensive and collision coverage, the dealership or its finance partner may obtain Collateral Protection Insurance (CPI) to protect its interest in the vehicle. CPI covers the vehicle only, does not provide liability or personal coverage to the customer, and the cost of CPI may be added to the customer's account as permitted by law.
